Though Italy is in the temperate zone and known for mild and sunny weather, and despite the fact that it generally is throughout the year, the Alps and higher elevations are the exception. Known for harsh storms and surprise weather squalls, the higher elevations are likely to be most comfortable in mid summer unless your enjoy skiing. Base your trip time around the region you are visiting.
