Summer is almost upon us. Though the unofficial start of summer is generally considered Memorial Day Weekend, the actual start of summer will be on June 20th. Get started prepping for your summer vacation with some great summer travel tips to help from your friends at Tradewinds Vacations.
Avoid holiday travel – This means avoiding holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day. You will really save if you avoid travel during the Fourth of July Holiday as it is the busiest summer holiday of the year. If you must travel during these holiday seasons, you can save by avoiding the day before the holiday, the day after the holiday or the weekends in general. You will also save by avoiding travel during the day and the smaller airports as well.
Arrive early – This is a good idea in general. Not only will you reduce your stress by doing so, but you will also ensure that you have everything you need and will make it on time. This includes not only airports but also bus stations and train stations as well.
Passes and discount cards – Most of the top cities around the U.S and even in Europe offer city passes perfect for the impatient or just plain smart traveler. Not only do they allow you to save money most of the time, but they will also allow you to skip lines and give you inside information to the top destinations for vacationers.
Know your destination before you go – This includes large events. A good example of this is London. If you are not planning on going to the Olympics, DO NOT plan to visit in July or August as you will be visiting with hundreds of thousands of others and will certainly be paying higher prices.
Take care of your car – If you are planning a road trip this is very important for you to do especially if you are planning on driving in hot climates. Cars can easily overheat while driving in the heat of the day and using the air conditioning. Make sure that your vehicle is in top running shape before you take a road trip.
Travel light – Not only will this help you save money on travel, but gas and stress. Always make only what you need and leave everything else at home.
