Why Travel Advice Is Subjective
Recently, a book was written in reference to the top places not to visit in your lifetime. Destinations making the list included sites such as Stonehenge, Mount Rushmore and the entire state of Nevada. Tradewinds Travel Club understands that travel writers do have an impact on popular sights to visit or not visit as in the aforementioned. Deciding where to go and what to see is a difficult decision and many travelers look to advice from experts on the subject.
A word of advice from Tradewinds Travel Club, take your own interests into consideration above all others for what sounds interesting to you. Glean the knowledge necessary on tips offered by others, and use your best judgment, you may be sorry otherwise.
Best and Worst From Tradewinds Travel Club – The Choice Is Yours
To millions of travelers each year, Mount Rushmore makes the list as a must see destination. Located in South Dakota, Mount Rushmore is a memorial on a grander scale than can possibly be imagined. A tribute paying homage to four very instrumental American Presidents, Mount Rushmore holds an interest for a host of people from different backgrounds. From art to history and even nature, the giant sculptures loom against the Black Hills from which they were carved over 70 years ago. A tribute to our history as well as the skills of one man and nearly 400 workers, Mount Rushmore presents an interesting location for visitors to our National Parks.
Though the surrounding Black Hills do offer some stunning scenery and there are thousands of places to explore for the outdoors person, recent remodeling has taken a certain authenticity away from the actual monument itself. Many of the surrounding natural features have been removed and replaced by blacktop, making Mount Rushmore more of a glorified parking lot than a national treasure.
Once you get past this aspect of the park, and look at what it truly is, a monument to America and our past, visitors can start to once again appreciate what Mount Rushmore and other national parks found throughout the U.S have to offer.
Our top national parks receive millions of visitors each year. In order to accommodate all this heavy use, certain aspects have to be altered in order to preserve the features and protect the visitors. While it would’ve been nice to see Mount Rushmore in the 1940’s when it was first finished, as part of the growing number of tourists, we have to appreciate what must be done in order to protect the park, its features, and those who come to visit each year.
